⚠️ Couch 2-player needs two different controllers. Two identical pads (e.g. two 8BitDo SN30 Pros) look like one device to macOS — the browser only sees one and “last plugged in wins.” Use two different models, or set each 8BitDo to a different mode (Start + X / Start + B). Watch the “Controllers the browser sees” count above — it must reach 2. Playing online instead? No problem — each person uses their own machine + controller.
